Life is Good- Family, fun, & BYU GRADS!

Well- we made it! Brandon & I are officially graduates of Brigham Young University! It's been so surreal realizing that my formal education has FINALLY come to a close! There were definitely moments when I thought this day would never come. :) It's so fun to finish up the same time as my fabulous husband as well. Brandon's degree is a double major in French and History (such a smarty-pants) and I have my degree in Secondary Education, History Teaching with a minor in music. Yes, we know- we're little history nerds together. :)

Shortly before we finished up all our college requirements, Brandon and I got all dressed up and headed to Riverwoods in Provo to see some Christmas lights and shop a little bit. I love this Christmasy photo of the two of us. (Doesn't Brandon look AWESOME in his glasses? I'm definitely a fan!)

Brandon took his last final on December 12th & I finished student teaching on the 7th- we definitely have celebrated a lot the last few days. One of the biggest blessings is that we both have jobs, right out of college. Brandon's been working at the SEO company, Boostability, since September and it's been such a great fit for him as we save money for law school in the Fall. He even gets to use his rockin' French skills there.

We also got great news last week that I got a job! A real life teaching job! I'm so thankful to be a long-term sub at Providence Hall Junior High, the #1 Charter School in Utah, located in Herriman Utah. I'm taking over for one history teacher's maternity leave, teaching 6th & 7th grade history, until March. After she gets back, I'll take over for another teacher's maternity leave from March till the end of the year, teaching 8th grade U.S. History. So far it seems like an AMAZING school and I'm way excited to finally be PAID to teach! :)

Backing up a few weeks, Brandon & I went to his sister Darci's high school musical's performance of Will Roger's Follies. Darci was in the pit orchestra and did an AWESOME job! Here's the crew who came to support!

I totally lucked out with some awesome in-laws!

On Thanksgiving, we had so much fun celebrating with the Chlarsons in Sandy. Even though I was under the weather most of the day, it was a great day with lots of delicious food and family!

The next day, we went bowling and I am proud to say I bowled over a 100! (see the 113 above) Brandon also rocked getting 139!

That weekend, we also decorated our little mini 2 foot tree (I definitely thought it was a little bigger when we bought it). But I love having this man with me for Christmas! Our first Christmas as a married couple and I'm so excited!

So, truly life is good! We have SO much to be grateful for and are so thankful for so many people's love and support to us as we have started our marriage, pushed through our last semester of college, and helped us find these wonderful jobs. We're excited for the holiday season!

The Party Continues- Utah Wedding Reception Pics!

I feel SO tacky to be blogging once again about the wedding! You'd think it was a big deal or something! :) However, I PROMISE this is the last one! After coming back from a delightful and relaxing honeymoon, we got to have one more celebration in Utah! August 24th was an absolutely splendid night at South Mountain Golf Clubhouse in Draper Utah. Brandon's family completely spoiled us with such a fun night! It was wonderful to see old friends & family and meet some new friends & family as well.

The best part of the Clubhouse was this GORGEOUS view overlooking the whole Salt Lake Valley.

The darling little Mariah, Brandon's niece...

Sweet Ashton, my nephew

Aunt Linda & little Lacey!

Xander & Uncle John :)

The entry way...

So darling- Darci & Mariah getting all set for the party!

Such beautiful tables!

LOVE this picture of the two of us!

Such a cute picture of Brandon's grandparents & Rini

What a beautiful night!

Long time friends of Brandon's- Ryan & Justin. So kind to come celebrate with us!

I Love Mariah's little facial expressions in these two pictures!

Check out how cool my hair turned out! (Thank you Ie Ling Day!)

The new little twins!

Darling pic of Ash & his dad Eric

Beautiful SUNSET!

The inside eating area & tables- so elegant!

Outside things were STUNNING! I love the hanging white lights! It was simply beautiful!

One of my favorite parts of the decorations- my awesome Mother in Law put up this awesome picture of Brandon's brother, Cory, who is serving a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Fiji right now. She even included a portion of his recent letter congratulating us on our marriage. LOVED this! Can't wait for Cory to come home!

Happy Eternal Marriage to Us!!! Tomorrow marks the 4 month mark and I am so unbelievably happy to be sealed to this dear, sweet boy for time and all eternity! Many thanks to the best in-laws ever for throwing us one incredible party!

A Dream Come True: Colorado Reception Pics

I feel lame to still be posting wedding pictures almost 3 months after the big day! But in my defense, Brandon & I have both been so busy! Brandon's working 2 jobs & finishing up school and I'm student teaching 7th grade & 8th grade history in Lehi. We'll both officially graduate in December! (FINALLY!)  So with no further ado, here is a LONG post full of pictures from our dream wedding reception in Colorado.

I've ALWAYS wanted to have my wedding reception in my backyard in the summer. Thanks to Brandon popping the question about 2 months early we were able to have our wedding at the end of the summer. And my parents worked seriously COUNTLESS hours to get the backyard so absolutely stunning. How I love & adore them! And between Alma Martineau's fabulous jazz music DJ-ing, the ice cream stand, and the plethora of navy blue, coral, & lace decorations- things turned out so beautifully!  It was EVERYTHING I could ever ask for! Seriously! How did I get so lucky?

Thank goodness for pinterest, my crafty sister Alison, and my master-planner mother! Together all us girls made several cutesy things for people to look at around the Reception. (They were especially helpful when the line to greet us got SO long!) Hopefully this little love story timeline board kept people entertained. :)

I also am very proud of how well these cute little 5 Things that his/her side should know about her/him.  (Thank you again Alison & pinterest!) In fact, this was the first thing I made for the Reception! In case you can't read them, here's what each of them said. (And yes- he wrote mine & I wrote his!)

5 THINGS Her SIDE SHOULD  KNOW ABOUT Him:

He is one of the biggest Utah Jazz fans you’LL ever meEt. And would cry if they won the NBA Championship.

He is a world-class prankster and uses materials such as 50 pounds of uncooked rice & beans and 30 bags of shredded newspapers.

He served a full-time, two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Toulouse, France and has mastered the French language.

He has an uncanny ability to remember useless trivia. Never take him on in trivial pursuit.

He took 5 months to ask Kara on their first date, but only 12 hours to pull together the proposal.

5 Things His Side Should  Know About Her:

SHE speaks the language of music and is fluent in the dialects of piano, violin, and guitar. She also sings like Celine.

SHE has an OBSESSION with Jane Austen (especially Pride & Prejudice!) and only decided to marry Brandon because of his large, Pemberley-style estate.

she enjoys a large bowl of ice cream after every meal… or at least wishes it were that way!

She knows everything about everything and has never gotten less than an A in any class. A real genuine smarty pants!

She thanks her lucky stars that she & Brandon moved into the same apartment complex 2 years ago, and now gets to marry her best friend

Another favorite craft from the Reception! My mom and two sisters were absolutely instrumental in helping make this cute Mr. & Mrs. Banner. I loved how it turned out!

MANY thanks to Alison & my Mom for helping me make this little vintage mailbox complete with cute vinyl saying, "You've Got Mail" & "Mr. & Mrs. Chlarson."

I've always been of the belief that cupcakes are much preferred than waiting for the wedding cake to be cut. So homemade cupcakes from Sister Sue Davie were so graciously made!!

:D Everyone should have KNOWN I had to have ice cream at my wedding reception. (I'm a tad bit of an ice-cream-a-holic.)

SO grateful for such fabulous friends & bridesmaids who helped the WHOLE night! Brandon & I are so extremely grateful for countless people not pictured here who helped with the various tasks that night! We have the best friends & family in the entire world! We couldn't have done this without them!

Love Brandon's face in this one. haha

Brent & so many others were so good to us & helped us get a little bit to eat in between everything

How perfect is this? I'm obsessed with a gorgeous Colorado sunset! I can't believe the weather held out & we had the perfect sunset to end our night!

The beautiful cake! Love how the bow turned out. :)

Cutting the cake...

Brandon was the sweetheart that he is and was polite & didn't shove the cake in. Bless him! That's definitely what I wanted. :)

Our first dance as husband & wife was to Georgia on my Mind by Michael Buble- the song we danced to when Brandon proposed & a favorite for both of us.

I love this boy so much! Can't believe i get to have him forever!

So honored to have my daddy-daughter dance. We danced to Butterfly Kisses. How I love my Dad! (And yes I may or may not have cried while dancing... I'm such a sap)

LOVE this picture! haha You GO Tatiana!!

I'm a little bug-eyed in this picture but I was pretty stoked that Tats got the bouquet!

haha I was pretty into the music- can you blame me? I just got married to my best friend!

Some impromptu dancing ensued. :) It was such a blast getting everyone in both of our families to dance with us!

The big exit!

Conley & Darci & Brandon's cousins did a great job decorating the car.

JUST MARRIED!
