What We're Up To....

So while Brandon & I have been separated the last month and a half, we both have been doing a lot of skyping, emailing, and office work (his at his internship at the University of Lille and me at my student secretary job on campus).  We also are doing a few fun things to help pass the time apart. (22 days till he's finally back!!!)
So Brandon's major highlight a few weeks ago was attending the French Open in Paris! He's recently informed me that after basketball, tennis is his favorite sport. I had no idea he was such an avid tennis fan! But man was he excited to go to the French Open. In Brandon's words, the French Open is "one of the greatest sporting events in the world at one of the most classic venues." haha I had no idea this was such a "bucket list" event for him so I'm so glad he got to go!
Though he did not see the amazing final between Nadal and Djokovic (in all honesty I have NO idea who they are. I'm learning though! :D) Brandon did see the matches between Ferrer d. Youhzny, Li d. McHale, Gasquet d. Haas, Kanepa d. Wozniacki on the Suzanne Lenglen Court. He reported that he had an amazing day and got a rockin' sun burn. :) I'm so glad he got to go do something so epic and memorable while he's in France.

While Brandon has been working at his internship and going to the French Open, Belgium, and music festivals, I've been trying to wedding plan, finish my spring classes, and work! It's been pretty busy to say the least! But thankfully after finally finding THE most beautiful dress last week with my Mom, most of the big wedding stuff is done. (yeah!) After spring term finals finished up, I headed off to South Dakota with my family for a little vacation and sight seeing at Mount Rushmore!
It was one LONG 11 hour drive from Provo, but we had a blast in South Dakota. I was shocked how much there was to do up there. We celebrated Father's Day, drove through Custer State Park, went on some family hikes, and just enjoyed a little break from the school and work routine. I really loved seeing Mount Rushmore and felt very patriotic when all the veterans went down on the stage after the lighting of the mountain.

My two great sisters. :)

Happy Father's Day Dad!!!

See how beautiful South Dakota is! Who knew???

I'm so grateful for some fun activities to keep us going while we're apart, but Brandon and I are SO excited to finally be together again! We both keep writing how we wish the other was with us. Only a few more weeks! Hip hip hurrah!

The Countdown to Brandon's Return

So Brandon is in France on an internship for two months. He's working at a University in Lille and spending some time visiting France, where he served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Can you believe he lived there for two years and never saw the Eiffel Tower?? Poor boy! I'm so glad he has this opportunity to go enjoy Europe and revisit such a special place for him.

The only problem is... we have to be separated for over 2 months before we get to see each other again! BOO! It's been so hard to become newly engaged, then have your fiance leave the next day! It's a roller coaster of emotions: happy because we're engaged but sad because he's not here. Thank goodness for skype and email- Brandon & I are hanging in there and are anxious for July 19th to roll around!

While Brandon lives it up in France, I'm still pushing through my last few spring term classes and working at my secretary job. I so wish we could be together and I'm missing him like crazy. To endure the distance apart and the wait, I gave in and made a cheesy paper chain. It's so sad- when I made it there were 60 days left and it still dragged on the ground when I picked it up! It was rather depressing.

It's now hanging in my room, and slowly ever so slowly getting smaller. I can't wait till Brandon steps off that plane come July 19th! Only 1 month, 17 days, & 6 hours! But... who's counting? :)
